Isis & Jackrabbit If you’ve ever read any Appalachian trail journals you probably have read about these two sisters who hiked the trail barefoot– turned around, and hiked it in the opposite direction– still barefoot.  Isis and Jackrabbit talk about their legendary 2001 yo-yo thru-hike, their trailnames, and how/why they did it barefoot…

I really enjoyed your podcast with the Barefoot Sisters - Jackrabbit and Isis. Their friendly attitude and practical take on the AT alone made the interview fascinating and their unique twist by barefooting it was great!

    Thanks for sharing!

As a 2001 southbound thru hiker I passed the barefoot sisters on their return and feel it worthy to note that they were not barefoot. I did not converse at length with them while at camp, but they informed me that for their return leg of the yo-yo they wore shoes on a part time basis.

Hi Barefoot Sisters, Don’t know if you remember me but we met a couple of times, then you left me in the dust. I summitted Katahdin in Sept 23rd, 2001. Happy trails. Coy
