I spoke with “Spoonie Love”, a northbound AT thru-hiker, several months ago when I first started Trailcast. She was staying at Miss Janet’s hostel in Erwin, TN. Hikers on that part of the trail were seeing some late season snow storms, making a strong impression on Spoonie. Out of an attempt to balance the Trailcast programs with conversations about trails other than the Appalachian Trail, I sadly ended up putting this interview on the back burner. Spoonie gave a great interview and I apologize for the delay in getting this conversation published.

Hey Bob–
I was pleased to find your latest installment downloaded by ipodder. I did go to Spoonie’s trail journal and saw that she was contemplating ending her trek. My hat is off to her. As my love for the trail did not develop until well into my business career, it will be retirement until I can seriously consider a long distance trail, but I do enjoy living vicariously listening to others on trailcast. Please keep it up.
Thanks

Hey Spoonie!
You’re an AT superstar! I’m excited to say that I hiked with a superstar for a bit! My AT thruhike was the best 5 months of my life–hope it was a good adventure for you too. :)

It looks like from oldyeller’s journal, http://www.walkingnorth.com/oldyeller/archives/2005/05/goodbye_hello.php, you had to leave the trail on May 3rd. Wonderful interview and good luck in whatever comes next.

Great article. I am just sad I dont know how to reply properly, though, since I want to show my appreciation like many other.
