Trailcast 10 - Andrew Skurka - Sea to Sea

Andrew Skurka, just recently finished a hike across the U.S. from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. In my conversation with him, he talks about this amazing hike, and the intense planning involved in connecting a series of existing trails into a continuous walk between oceans.
On August 6, 2004, I filled up a small flask with Atlantic Ocean water at Cape Gaspe, Quebec. For the next eleven months the flask was a daily reminder of the ultimate objective of my efforts — to pour it over my head with my feet in the Pacific. On July 10, 2005, I finally got to do it. –Andrew Skurka

Great podcast as usual.
It’s good to hear others enjoy high mileage hiking.

What inspiration! That podcast brought tears to my eyes as memories flooded my mind of my AT Thru-hike in 2000, as well as dreams resurfaced in my vision to hike across the nation myself!
Thank you Andrew Skurka, and thank you Trailcast!

Great podcast with Andrew Skurka. It’s really inspiring to hear about someone doing something like this. It’s made me renew my fortitude to do a thru-hike that’s on my Life List. Thanks for a great podcast

What was Andrew’s trailname on the AT in 2003? I hiked in ‘03 as well, and didn’t hear it mentioned during the interview….

Great interview, very interesting to know how hikers can deal with covering such large distances while carrying such a minimal load.

Great article. I am just sad I dont know how to reply properly, though, since I want to show my appreciation like many other.
