Every time I read a trail journal or follow a gear discussion on a hiking forum,
Western Mountaineering sleeping bags always generate extremely favorable mention. Most seem to agree that these bags are built quite a bit warmer than rated. Though not cheap, my WM bag is the jewel in my pack– my insurance policy against a miserable night– along with my tarp it’s the one thing I rely upon with my life on the trail… In this program, I speak with Gary Schaezlein, owner and co-founder of Western Mountaineering.

It was an interesting interview.
But because Western Mountaineering remains one of the few gear makers refusing to move manufacturing overseas, I would have liked to hear more about the challenges involved in that decision.

Robert-
I have very much enjoyed your interviews. This one touched the gearhead in all of us. Please include more gear manufacturers in the future with more technical information. This provides a nice balance to the human stories. Thank you for all of your efforts in producing these pieces. You are doing a great service to recovering thru hikers who occasionally have to sort depressingly tall stacks of paper work.
Cheers,

Great article. I am just sad I dont know how to reply properly, though, since I want to show my appreciation like many other.
