Ken and Marcia PowersKen and Marcia Powers began serious long distance hiking after retirement. Since 1999 they have hiked over 13,000 miles, thru-hiking the Pacific Crest, Continental Divide and Appalachian Trails and recently became the first people to thru-hike the American Discovery Trail– a 6,800 mile long trail crossing the Belly of the US. Averaging 20 miles a day, Ken and Marcia faced interesting resupply and navigation challenges along a route not used to accomodating thru-hikers and had encounter with quicksand..!

Maybe it’s because my wife and I are retired hikers, but I really was inspired by Ken & Marcia. Hiking is a great way to add life to your years! Keep up The Trailcast, Robert; you are really onto something good!

Having looked through the myriad pages on Ken and Marcia’s GottaWalk site and gleaned tons of excellent info from there about backpacking and in particular long distance backpacking it was nice to be able to just sit back and listen to the two of them talk about why they do what they do and why they love it so much. Thanks, Bob!
