Trailcast 27 - Miss Janet and Six Pack
![]() | trailcast-27-Apr-12-2006.mp3 (14 MB) |
Well northbounder thru-hiker season on the Appalachian Trail is in full swing and it’s time to check in with Miss Janet, of the well-known hiker hostel, Miss Janet’s House. In my conversation with her, she talks about a typical day in her life during thru-hiker season and her observations on the current crop of thru-hikers.. I also speak with a thru-hiker hopeful, Six Pack, who was staying at Miss Janet’s house. Six pack talks about his previous hiking experience, his motivations for starting his long walk and describes the culture shock of fully entering the world of a thru-hiker.

Compared to some of the other amazing podcasts that you have done this one is kind of slow

I disagree with Salts McDar, I thought this one was very good. My 9 year old son really enjoyed hearing about Miss Janet and her home for wayward hikers. He’s now hoping we can make a hike someday and stop there.

Be sure and give an update on Six Pack’s trip to your place. Good show.

Like your other podcasts, another great interview. You ask the right questions
so the listeners feel like they know the hikers when you’re done. Keep up
the good work.

Fantastic podcast. And you are right. Six Pack’s remarks on the “culture shock” were extremely honest and interesting. Keep up the great work and I for one will keep listening. Thanks!
